Welcome to a new Backyard

– again created for you, by our amazing partners.

Wondering why we keep sending you to different backyards? Well, there are several reasons. We want to show you some of Arendals hidden places. This town has so much to offer and being a tourist in your own town can be pretty cool sometimes.

It’s also nice to get some fresh air during a twelve-hour indoor event. And changing the scenery changers both the people around you, the conversation topics and the mood you are in. Although it’s windy, we still believe this is a great idea and that you will have a fantastic time.

But for now, enjoy all the vibes the backyard you are in has to offer and we’ll see you back at Kulturhuset from 18:30.

Nothing brings people together like good food

TEDxArendal launched Dine Around in 2019 to support local restaurants and bring life to town on a quiet November night. We also showed that Arendal can host more conference guests than what one single venue allows, with our restaurants serving 700 people simultaneously. It’s pretty amazing what we can accomplish together, if you ask us!

Due to Thomas’ health reasons, he will unfortunately not be able to attend today’s event. We are sad to inform you that he is currently hospitalized and under medical care.

If you’re wondering how we plan to fit 700 guests here, the secret is that our partners have collaborated to create four distinct registration experiences. So, if you’re missing a friend or colleague, they might be in a different area. But don’t worry—you’ll all reunite at Kulturhuset for Session 1 at 13:00.
We recommend you grab your badge, say hello to a friend or two, and head toward Kulturhuset around 12:30.

The main entrance will be closed, so please aim to be at the artist entrance behind Arendal Kulturhus by 12:45 at the latest. Yes – the artist entrance behind Kulturhuset 😊

Once a year, the magic of collaboration comes to life at TEDxArendal.

Big and small organizations from the private sector, academia and public sector all form part of our amazing TEDxArendal Partner Community. It’s thanks to them that we are able to finance both the event itself, build an amazingly talented crew community, explore new ways of re-defining the TEDxArendal experience and keep refering to our selves as one of the worlds best TEDx events.

We have built a Legacy

In august this year TEDxArendal was granted a new top license from TED – a Legacy License. This is a license that can only be handed out, and not applied for.

This is how TED describes the license:

The Legacy license is granted to long-standing TEDx events which have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to ideas worth spreading, community mentorship, and TED values. The license allows for greater flexibility in event duration, format, distribution, and community engagement, all designed to empower these exemplary events to further build their legacy for years to come.
